My name is Malia Barber,  I just turned 12 years old and This is my fifth year racing Soap Box Derby Cars.  I've been involved since was 8, and Silverdale first started the Soap Box Derby Program.  I built my first car with my Grandpa Vince, and we have built and rebuilt my cars a bunch of times.

 

I am currently racing my Super Stock in the Rally division.  We are hoping to earn enough points for another trip to Akron, as a rally champion. I travel to other cities with my Grandparents to race in Rally races.  My Grandpa and I are getting ready to start building my next car, which is a Master's car.  I will be racing in the Master's division next year.

 

I am also involved in a mentoring position at my school.  I mentor disabled students.  I enjoy working with my students.  I am also involved in Soccer, Basketball and fastpitch.  As you can see,  I have a love of sports.  I really enjoy Soap Box Derby, as I have met lots of new friends, from lots of places.  I love travelling with  my Grandparents and my mom.  We have had a some wonderful experiences and I encourage anyone that may be interested, to find out more about this great family sport
